Nova Luna Center for Eating Disorders - Community Outreach Programs for Eating Disorder Education and Prevention

Nova Luna Center is committed to the prevention, as well as the treatment of eating disorders. We are currently initiating an open dialogue with the local schools to implement education and support programs within the school system.We also participate in the annual health fairs and expos on Maui, providing literature on what eating disorders are, how to recognize an eating disorder, how they impact a person, and how they can be treated.

Michelle Villanti, Clinical Director & visionary of Nova Luna Center, has been very active in the community. She has been directing an outpatient eating disorder program called “Ai Pono” for the last three years with amazing success. She also was the Maui sponsor of EDEN, (Eating Disorder Education Network) which provided education, presentations and support groups in the community. She is an ongoing consultant to various private schools in Maui County.

Ms. Villanti sponsors and/or coordinates Eating Disorder educational retreats and conferences for doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists and other medical health professionals; such as “Sacred Hunger”, “Dying to be Thin”, and “Beautiful Women Eating in the Light of the Moon.”
